This year, Partners In Research (PIR) held a call for nominations for 6 distinct awards to recognize excellence in Canadian research and commitment to public outreach in the fields of biomedical science, science, technology, engineering and math. We are thrilled to announce that we received nominations for 5 of the 6 awards. After peer review of these nominations we are pleased to reveal the winners.
The winners of the 2013 PIR National Awards are…

- Dr. Chris Brandl, Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University
The Ronald G. Calhoun Science Ambassador Award
Science Ambassador Award
Technology Ambassador Award
- Dr. Ronald Deibert, Professor of Political Science and Director of the Canada Centre for Global Security Studies and the Citizen Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto

This year we will also be awarding the first ever VROC Expert Participation Award
The Ambassador Awardees were selected through a competitive nomination process because of their outstanding research and commitment to public outreach activities. The Expert Participation Awardee was chosen because of the significant amount of time donated to the VROC program. They will all be recognized this spring at the PIR National Awards, a national networking event and awards ceremony.
We invite you to come connect, share and learn about these researchers!
